A recent report by The Financial Express highlights a shift in the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector, emphasizing soft skills alongside technical knowledge.

 

In the BFSI sector, the analysis of job postings reveals a strong demand for specific skills among professionals. Communication skills are highly valued, with 27 per cent of postings highlighting their importance, reflecting the sector’s focus on customer-centric services and the need for clear communication of complex financial information. English proficiency is also crucial, noted in 10 per cent of the postings, emphasising the global nature of business today. Additionally, eight per cent of postings seek analytical skills, pointing to the industry’s reliance on data-driven decision-making and the use of advanced analytical tools. This data underscores the evolving skill set required in the BFSI sector to meet contemporary challenges.

Talking about the data, Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales, Indeed, said, “The BFSI sector is undergoing a transformation, recognising the pivotal role of soft skills in driving innovation, customer satisfaction and overall organisational success. For employers, this study provides a roadmap to attracting and nurturing well-rounded talent capable of navigating the industry’s evolving challenges.

In addition to this, technical proficiencies also remain vital for BFSI professionals amid the gaining prominence of soft skills. The study identified accounting with 12 per cent as the most sought-after technical skills. This is followed by Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office with nine per cent. Next, in the list is SAP with seven per cent. Sales with five per cent is also considered as one of the most required technical skill. The list is further followed by Microsoft PowerPoint, five per cent, and Agile Methodologies with 4.5 per cent.To attract and retain top talent, the BFSI sector is offering a wide range of benefits, including health insurance, provident funds, cell phone reimbursement, paid time off, work-from-home options, and commuter assistance. These benefits reflect a commitment to employee well-being, financial security, and work-life balance.
